Friday, my daughter comes to me and says that now the ass Zoology teacher wants the class to have a debate on Creation Vs. Evolution. I don't see how this illustrates how animals behave in the wild. This has me infuriated. Not only do I believe that this does not belong in the classroom, but that the teacher has put my daughter on the Creation list, without her consent, and we do not subscribe to that belief.

I am sure that he is inside the box, seeing only one Christian view of Creation. I told H (my daughter) to throw a kink in there, and tell of Creation from a Buddhist's view, because we do subscribe more to that belief. But she is afraid of not following instructions and making waves, and of course, that pisses me off. I don't want them to win. The teacher just has the power, not because of intelligence and the honor of being respected, but because of the seat he maintains, instilling fear.

I don't want the assholes to win. They already bully and coherce. What I like to do, and was trying to convey to her, was that if we must do what they say, and have no other choice, then to do it our way the best we can, but under what they say, so it works out to where we do it our way, under their "law", and since it's theirs, they cannot do a thing about it. It's about manipulating their rules to accomodate everyone. I like to think of it, as, mutual respect, or a more reciprocal relationship.

PETA's Response To Me:

08:18 Sep 21 2005
Times Read: 901

Dear Jamie,

Thank you for raising a kind and compassionate child and for alerting us to this inhumane class project. There are so many wonderful, humane alternatives to dissection and experiments in the classroom involving animals that it is a bit hard to comprehend how anyone could possibly be an advocate of these archaic practices. Did you know that your child can become a veterinarian or a doctor without ever having to senselessly kill an innocent animal who did not choose to donate his/her body to science? That’s right! In fact, educators have reevaluated the educational worth and morality of cutting up animals to see "how they work." Studies going back as far as 1969 support the educational merit of alternatives to dissection. In fact, all the studies of this issue but one show that students who use dissection alternatives perform as well or better than students who actually participate in dissection.

That’s great that you’re speaking up for animals, and that you will not allow your daughter to participate in this cruel class project. In order to assist the animals, help your daughter, and hopefully put an end to this zoology project, I need your assistance. Can you please provide the following information:

School name and address

Teacher’s and principal’s name

Exactly what the students are asked to carry out for this class project and the subject of this class

Grade level and age of students in this class

It is very important that you immediately begin to voice your outrage to the teacher, the principal, the school board and the media—anyone who will listen to you. Enlist the help of your daughter’s fellow students, teachers, and community members-- it’s very important that the educators and school board members hear from tax payers in their community. Please stress that animals are not objects. They are living, feeling beings who require food, shelter, companionship, and love—and they feel pain and fear just like we do. Removing animals from the context of their families and natural environment gives a distorted and incorrect view of the needs of animals.

You are right in stressing how dangerous this project is for the students, because in addition to any diseases that may possibly be transmitted from handling wild animals—for example, rabies--violent acts toward animals have long been recognized as indicators of a dangerous psychopathy that does not confine itself to animals. Many of the young high-school shooters tortured animals before they turned on their peers. Teaching students to have empathy for other beings is indeed essential to raising kind, compassionate citizens. Humane education is essential for every student because studies show that it reduces violence and builds moral character.

Enhancing a student's understanding that animals are living, feeling beings to be treated with respect and compassion is a very important lesson in teaching empathy and respect for others. Unfortunately, the only thing this class will teach children is the misconception that animals are disposable objects, like pencils or paper, that can be freely discarded once they’ve served their purpose.

I look forward to your reply, and thank you again for speaking for animals and for demanding that your child receive a humane education.

Sincerely,

Patti Tillotson | Student Activist Assistant

My Letter To PETA:

08:17 Sep 21 2005
Times Read: 902

My daughter came to me this morning about a project she was being directed to complete. I believe this to be inhumane, but maybe I'm not the one to ask. The teacher has told them to make a trap. He gives them the option of making it an animal or bug trap. Either way, it seems cruel, as he mentions that, "food should be a low priority", and that, "the trap must be based on a life process of the animal.". To me, that means, that they prefer to see it die, after it slowly starves to death. He also wants them to take the wild animal to school, which seems ignorant to me, and quite dangerous, both to the animal and to the people at school, the student doing this and his/her family. The paper says that the animal or student can't be harmed, but that seems like they are using that as a loop hole to make it ok. It states that domestic animals should not be used.

I am very upset at this, and I recall hearing about this last year, I believe it was. I wrote on the paper a note about how upset I was and how my daughter will not be participating. I don't know if she will simply get an F because of it or not. I surely hope not. I also asked how he could be getting away with this? I know it's been going on for awhile, because of hearing of it before.

What can we do? Is there anything you can do? Strongly written letter? Legal action? To me, this is definately cruelty to animals and we just can't have that.

Thank you for your time,

Jamie

This is an interaction box, on the cyberastro site. This is between the Marquis De Sade, and myself. *laughing* I find him very interesting, misunderstood and a fellow somewhat sensitive Gemini, being born in the same decant as myself. Apparently we should just stay friends and occasional bed partners.

Second person's nature number is 2

Friends: Friendship is good on temporary basis.

I don't believe it when a very young profile, such as this, claims to "party hard", with hard liquor, babes, and drugs, to go with their death metal. And I don't believe it when they say the hard liquor is their favorite drink. And if, by chance, there is one or two that actually are alcoholics at this age, I want to know where their parental guidance is, and how this happened.

Kids are great...I just don't want to drink with them. Dance, and chill....yes. Drink and drugs = no.

Jesus 'Really Dreading' This Next Birthday

December 1, 1999 | Issue 35•44

Jesus Dreading his 2000 birthday

JERUSALEM—Jesus Christ, son of God and savior of humanity, confided Monday that He is not looking forward to His 2,000th birthday next year, saying that He is "really dreading turning the big two-oh-oh-oh."

"This is the Big One," said Christ, who will be 1,999 Dec. 25. "I can't believe I'm actually turning 2,000 soon. I am seriously getting up there."

Though His associates have been keeping Him in good company as the milestone draws near, Christ said He is finding it increasingly difficult to keep His spirits up.

"They keep telling me I don't look a day over 33, but you know how they are—especially Peter," Christ said meekly. "He'll be calling me an old fogy three times before the cock crows tomorrow morning. I just know it."

Even members of Christ's family have been giving Him a hard time about His age.

Dreading that 2000 birthday!

"Dad's been ribbing Me pretty good," said Christ, sipping Holy Water from an "Old Fart" mug recently given to Him by St. Michael. "He gives Me all kinds of grief, telling Me stuff like, 'At the rate you're going, people aren't going to know if you're the son of God or the brother.'"

"Two-thousand," Christ said. "I swear, for the next few centuries, when people ask me how old I am, I'm going to tell them 1,999."

Though Christ is aware that His birthday is one of Earth's biggest holidays, He said it hasn't been important to Him lately.

"I remember when I turned 1,000, I was really excited," said Christ. "A bunch of the apostles threw a big surprise party for me at the Sea of Galilee, and it was such a great time—I don't even want to tell you how much water we turned into wine that night. But once I turned 1,000, each birthday sort of became less and less of a big deal. It's like, once you're a thousandsomething, you don't even get so excited about birthdays anymore. The past few hundred birthdays, I've generally celebrated by just going out to dinner with a good friend or something mellow like that."

"I am so over the hill," He said. "God, in another 501 years, I'm going to be 2,500. I can't believe it."

Despite Christ's pleading with friends not to "make a whole big production" out of His birthday, some suspect He is secretly hoping for a surprise party.

"Every time I bring up the subject, He says, 'Don't do anything special for Me, don't get me any presents, all I want is peace on Earth, I'm not some kid in his 840s anymore'—blah, blah, blah," St. Matthew said. "That's vintage Jesus for you. Well, I have news for Him: Nobody is going to 'just forget.'"

Still, Christ insisted that He hopes no big celebrations are in the works.

"It's bad enough getting old, but having your birthday on Christmas?" said Christ, shaking His head. "And Dad had better not make one of those delicious carrot cakes with the sour-cream frosting. I have to go to My Second Coming and judge the living and the dead right afterwards, and I want to be able to fit into My old raiment."

Just got back into town, from my mom's for the weekend. It was for the celebration of my brother's 31st birthday. I made it home right in time, to watch the re-enactment of the Flight 93, on September 11th, 2001, on the Discovery Channel. I thought it was put together well.

On slightly other events:

My mom watches the news alot. She said that some countries are writing the United States off, saying that we will never recover and are finished, because of the Hurricane Katrina. They don't know much about Cancer's and their homes, do they?

Another source of anxiety

10:45 Sep 01 2005
Times Read: 970

I've been really worried about the people in Louisiana. I've been watching it all on T.V. and it's hard to watch. I'm going to call the Red Cross and see what they need donated, tomorrow.

I am glad Vlad and Jason are OK. Vlad has much more impaling to do. And Jason has many more smart ass comments to make. *smile*

Jason has a home in the area too. I talked to him via email and he is ok, and his family are ok. His home is safe as well, with very minimal damage. The water did not reach it, basically.

I had forgotten and realized that Angelpie is there too. I am not sure how she is doing. I haven't heard from her in awhile.

I decided not to go with the Red Cross, as I received an email about them and got the feeling from it that, they payed themselves pretty well. I'd rather my money go somewhere that uses it for others, as I intended it to be. I know the Red Cross does great things. I am a volunteer, took the CPR class, etc.....Had a friend that worked for them.

I unknowingly gave to the Salvation Army the other day for Katrina victims. Since I read a few years ago about how they won't hire gay people, I don't give to them anymore. But there was a container there, in Wal-Mart, for Katrina fund. So we gave. That same email I've recently received, was talking about how they are rather unorganized as well. But they do good things for people as well.

So then I was wondering, well, what DO I give to, to GET there, and get there NOW?! I've read two emails about it that seem to be good ones. The Jehovah Witnesses, is one, regardless of how you believe. I am certainly not one. But, they are strickly non-profit, and volunteer. They are well organized and get to the matter at hand, such as 9-11 and the hurricanes in Florida, ETC..

The other place, was

Networkforgood.

One woman said she has family in Louisiana, and suggested this place if you wanted to see exactly where your money goes, and you can tell where it should be spent, too. I thought that was cool. I found tons of lists of organizations listed, and you just sort through and find some that resonate with you. I just put Hurricane Katrina in the search box and watch them all pop up!

10:42 Sep 01 2005

This gas thing really has me pissed off. I keep thinking someone will do something about this gas situation. I mean, it's ridiculous. It jumped from approx. $2.46 a gallon, to $2.79, just a few days ago. Then, today, it jumped from that to $2.99. From that, it is to go to $3.30, and $4.00 by the weekend following Labor Day. It will cost us $100 to fill the tank. That is robbery.

Somebody tell me why we can't drill here for our own oil. Tell me why we can't develop further using old fry oil, to power the cars. Tell me why we can't use the solar car. Tell me why we can't drill the very tip of Alaska. Why aren't there more Hybrid cars?

Rant over...for now.
